Monday, November 9th
Richard A. Brown, MPA, RHIA, CHTS-TR

What do you do when you love going to the hospital where your older sister works as a nurse but you don’t want to work around blood? You volunteer to work in the Medical Records department like Richard A. Brown, CHTS-TR, MPA, RHIA!. Now the Director of Central HIM Operations for Inova Health System, Richard remembers that 6-week wait, hoping that he passed the RHIA exam. Since his emploment was contingent on passing the RHIA, it’s a good thing he was successful! Richard has been a mover and shaker in the HIM industry for many years.  A former DCHIMA President, he’s worked for companies like Siemens Healthcare, helping HIM clients design workflow models. As a respected HIM leader, he’s a master of organizational skills.  His dedication to the HIM profession is evident to all who have had the honor of working with Richard.

Wednesday, November 11th
Bonnie Greek, RHIT

Bonnie Greek is a long-standing member of DCHIMA. Currently the Director of Medical Records at Inova Alexandria Hospital in Virginia, Bonnie Greek is directly responsible for the HIM department. She has held several HIM positions throughout her four decade long career and has been involved with numerouus key projects and strategic initiatives spanning from the implementation of the EMR to the development and management of policies that support the clinical and financial success of the hospital.

Thursday, November 12th
Meryl Bloomrosen, MBA, MBI, RHIA, FAHIMA

At a glance, DCHIMA member Meryl Bloomrosen, is a woman with an impressive list of accomplishments and invaluable knowledge. Her experiences include Senior Health Policy Analyst for Prospective Payment Assessment Commission (ProPAC) to Vice President, Thought Leadership, Practice Excellence, and Public Policy for American Health Information Management Association. These experiences have catapulted her to currently serve as Sr. Vice President, Public Policy, Advocacy and Research for Asthma and Allergy Foundation. How can HIM students take her example as a role model and use it to help guide us in this complex ever changing profession? Let’s take a look at Ms. Meryl Bloomrosen’s beginning and what it takes to travel such a rich diverse road.

Friday, November 13th
Muriel Adams, RHIA, CCS

Ms. Adams has dedicated 40 years to the HIM industry in both an educational role and working directly in the field. As a Chair of Allied Health department for Prince George’s College and as an instructor of Medical Record Technology at Northern Va. Community College, she has spread her passion for this work by training HIM students. Our current DCHIMA president, Ms. Corinne Smith, is a product of Ms. Adams’ excellent tutelage!
