To the DCHIMA Membership:
As the President of DCHIMA for 2018-19, I am excited to have the opportunity to serve you this year! Our executive board has been hard at work, participating in strategic planning and brainstorming to ensure we are able to align our mission with AHIMA’s emerging strategic plan and with HIM Reimagined concepts, all to propel DCHIMA toward the future! Although we are a small Component State Association (CSA), we want to meet our members’ needs through educational events, networking, and partnerships with our sister CSAs in the District of Columbia metropolitan area. Our executive board will also continue to participate and represent DCHIMA at the AHIMA Advocacy Summit and Hill Day, and represent our CSA in the AHIMA House of Delegates. Last year, we provided educational workshops, held our second annual Virtual Meeting, and provided scholarship funding to a deserving HIM student. This year, we want to increase membership communications, member participation, and growth by continuing to host quarterly business meetings/educational events, working with HIM students in the local area and provide scholarships, reaching out to local high schools to educate students about the HIM profession, and to provide an Annual Meeting that allows educational and networking opportunities among the members of our profession.
We are excited about the future of DCHIMA, and invite you to join us to continue our growth and legacy of excellence in healthcare and health information management in the District!Toni Jackman, MS-HIS, MTM, RHIA, US Army Lieutenant Colonel, Retired
