It is a privilege and an honor to have the opportunity to serve as the President of District of Columbia Health Information Management Association for 2011 - 2012. I am excited to be able to serve an organization that has been so influential in shaping my career. I decided to take this challenge on in the early stages of my career because I am passionate about this profession and the success of this association. I think this is the perfect time to get involved with DCHIMA and AHIMA concerning all the changes in health information management.
Our profession has many new challenges to meet such as ICD-10, ARRA/HITECH, RAC, Meaningful Use, Health Care Reform Act, Privacy and Security, EHR and Health Information Exchange. One of many challenges for me as, I lead this association, is to to provide assistance through educational sessions and networking to our members. I believe that with a pool of dedicated and hard-working volunteers, we will be able to accomplish this task.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank current and past board members, especially all past presidents for the hard work they have dedicated to DCHIMA. They are the ones who spent many hours working together dedicated to advancing our association from goodness to greatness.
I look forward to working closely with the board members in reaching out to the local HIM community. I am here to serve you, the members. I strongly believe that without you, DCHIMA would not exist. There are many challenges ahead and I hope you will be there to support your CSA.
